Few words carry as much warmth as as-salamu alaykum: peace be upon you. Muslims say it when they meet, when they enter a home and when they part. It is one of the first things a child learns and one of the most frequent words a believer speaks. When we designed SalamTouch for the iTasbeeh Daily Ring (SQ905), we started from this greeting and from a teaching of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about it.

The teaching: "Spread salam among yourselves"

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

لاَ تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا وَلاَ تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا. أَوَلاَ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى شَىْءٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ تَحَابَبْتُمْ أَفْشُوا السَّلاَمَ بَيْنَكُمْ

"You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum."

— Sahih Muslim 54a, The Book of Faith. Source: https://sunnah.com/muslim:54a

This hadith appears in the Book of Faith of Sahih Muslim, which connects loving the believers with faith and presents spreading salam as a means of reaching that love. The teaching is simple. Love between people is not left to chance. It grows through small, repeated acts, and the first of these is greeting one another with peace.

The Arabic word afshu means to spread something widely and openly, not to keep it for special occasions. Salam is meant to be part of everyday life, offered to family, neighbours and friends.

When the people we love are far away

Daily life has changed. Children study in other cities. Parents live in another country. A husband works night shifts while his wife works days. Families spread across time zones often go days without a real conversation, and a message on a phone can get lost among notifications.

The greeting has not changed, but how often we manage to offer it may have. We wanted to help with that, in a small way, using an object people already wear every day.

What SalamTouch does

SalamTouch is a feature of the iTasbeeh Daily Ring (SQ905). It works like this:

  1. Tap your ring four times. The ring's key is touch-sensitive, so a short series of taps is all it takes.
  2. Your Salam is sent to a loved one's ring. The ring works with the iTasbeeh Salam app (https://app.itasbeeh.net/).
  3. Their ring vibrates and shows "SALAM" on its 4-digit, 5×7 dot-matrix display.

There is no typing, no screen to unlock and no message to compose. A parent can send a Salam to a son at university between tasks. A wife can send one to her husband on his way to work. Grandchildren can send one to grandparents before school. The person receiving it knows someone is thinking of them.

SalamTouch is not a replacement for saying salam in person, phoning parents or visiting family. Those remain the heart of the matter. It is a small reminder that keeps the greeting going between those moments.

Designed for families, couples and parents

Families apart. For families living in different cities or countries, SalamTouch offers a gentle daily thread of contact. One ring on a mother's hand, another on her daughter's, and a Salam can pass between them whenever either thinks of the other.

Couples. Spouses often spend long days apart. A quiet Salam during the day is a simple way to show care without interrupting each other's work.

Parents and children. For older parents, a ring that vibrates and shows a clear word can be easier than a phone app. For children away from home, it is a light, reassuring signal.

Because SalamTouch connects two rings, it is naturally something to share. Many people choose matching rings for a spouse, a parent or the whole household.

A ring for the rest of the day, too

The SalamTouch feature sits inside a ring built for daily worship and daily wear:

  • Tasbeeh counter on the dot-matrix display, counting up to 9,999, with a vibration at 33.
  • Five vibrating prayer reminders a day, with prayer names (FAJR, DHUHR, ASR, MAGHRIB, ISHA) shown on the display.
  • IP68, so it can stay on during wudu.
  • 2.8 mm thin and 3.6 g, made from anodized aluminium, with up to 5 days of battery life and magnetic charging.
  • Two finishes: Rose Gold in US sizes 7–9 and Matte Black in US sizes 9–13.

The ring does not include health monitoring. It focuses on dhikr, prayer times and staying connected through salam.

Keeping intention at the centre

A ring cannot create love between people, and no device can stand in for sincerity. The hadith points to the heart: belief, love for one another, and the habit of greeting each other with peace. SalamTouch is a tool meant to make that habit a little easier to keep for people who are often apart. We hope it helps families, couples and friends remember one another more often, and that each Salam sent is followed by a call, a visit or a kind word in person.
